Chiropractic

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic, from its early beginnings, has endorsed the idea of wellness. It is a total, preventive approach to health that deals with addressing the cause of the problem rather than just the symptoms.

An approach to health that utilizes the body’s inherent and natural recuperative powers.

Chiropractic considers all aspects of the patient’s life: family history; work; life-style and environment; diet; exercise regimen; the attention to prevention; and the patient’s physical and emotional stress factors. Chiropractic works by restoring a human being’s inborn ability to be healthy. When under the proper control of your nervous system, all the cells, tissues and organs of a person’s body are designed to resist disease and ill health. The chiropractic approach to better health is to locate and remove interferences to a human being’s natural state of being healthy.

A healing science that places emphasis on maintaining the structural integrity of the body.

An accessible interface with the nervous system is the system of 24 moving bones of the spinal column. A loss of normal motion or position of these bones can irritate or impair the function of the nervous system this can disrupt the transmission of controlling the nerve impulses. With improved spinal function, there may be improved nervous system function.

A method of health care that is conservative and that does not utilize drugs or surgery.

Chiropractic is a system of health care that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects that they have on general everyday health.  Chiropractic is used most often to treat complaints of neck pain, back pain, and pain in the joints of arms and legs.  It is a medical practice that is a hands-on and drug-free approach to health care.

The most common procedure used by doctors of chiropractic is known as a “chiropractic adjustment”.   The purpose of which is to restore mobility by applying controlled force to joints that have become restricted in their movement, or “hypomobile”.   Joints can become hypomobile by a single event such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stress.  Either way, joint tissues can undergo physical and chemical changes that cause pain, inflammation, and diminished function for the afflicted.  By manipulating or adjusting the affected joints or tissues, mobility can be restored alleviating pain and allowing the tissues to heal.

Chiropractic care helps realign the body to its natural state.  The body in its natural state has an inherent resistance to disease and ill health.  Restoring normal joint and spinal positions allows the nervous system to function unfettered, promoting the body’s ability to heal, and defend against disease naturally.
